The General Binding Corporation (GBC) was founded in Chicago, Illinois. The company was initially set up to service the needs of the book binding industry in the USA.
 
Over the ensuing years, mainly through acquisition, the product range expanded to include laminating equipment and supplies, visual communication products and document shredders.
 
1966
 
GBC Australia was first incorporated in Australia as a subsidiary of the General Binding Corporation. Like the US parent company, GBC Australia's product range was primarily shredders, binding equipment, lamination equipment and consumables.
 
1996
 
Acquisition of Fordigraph TAC Pty Ltd resulted in the formation of GBC/Fordigraph Pty Ltd ("GBC Australia") and introduced GBC to the mailing industry with the distributorship of Neopost mailroom equipment.
 
1998
 
Appointed exclusive distributor for EBA shredders. A world leader in shredder design, German based, EBA is renowned for the quality and efficiency of its products. These shredders are sold in Australia under the FORDIGRAPH brand.
 
2001
 
Appointed exclusive distributor for Duplo digital duplicators, paper folders, perfect binders, collators and booklet makers. Duplo is recognised as a leader in commercial print finishing equipment and solutions.
 
Appointed exclusive distributor for Opex letter openers and scanners. A US based company, Opex has developed the most innovative, efficient and reliable incoming/outgoing document processing equipment in the industry.
 
2002
 
Acquired Ascom Service Automation (Australia) Pty Ltd; supplier of franking machines, folder inserters, letter openers and other mailroom systems.
 
2004
 
Appointed distributor of the Canon and Hewlett Packard range of large format printers.
 
2007
 
Acquired AE Hudson Pty Ltd, offering a full range of solutions to the printing and graphic arts industry. "Commercial" division created to service the needs of the commercial print market.
 
2008
 
Acquired PFE International (Australia) Pty Ltd, supplier of mailing equipment and machinery.
 
2011
 
Acquired reseller Fastbind Pty Ltd, to become the exclusive agent for the Powis Parker and Fastback range of book binding equipment in Australia.
 
Neopost Holdings Pty Ltd, the European leader and world's number two supplier of mailroom solutions, completed the acquisition of GBC/Fordigraph Pty Ltd from ACCO Brands Corporation, world leader in office equipment. The decision to trade as “Neopost Australia” is part of Neopost’s strategy to develop its activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
 
Acquired Fold-N-Send business, supplier of business mailing and print finishing equipment.
 
2012
 
Appointed Australian distributor for Mimaki, adding to ever-evolving portfolio of print and finishing solutions for the signage industry.
 
Acquired Laidlaw Australia, Western Australia supplier of office and print finishing equipment – strengthening presence in a previously dealer serviced market.
